I just ran a Disk Check on my Mac after the warped batery issue I had two days ago; it tells me to start up the machine from my Mac OS X installation disk and run Disk Utility to repair. Mac I have cold feet insamuch as my Start Up disk is the old Tiger - and I have snow Leopard 10.6.5 installed on the machine; does that mean that I will downgrade to Tiger and then have to insert the Leopard disk after to upgrade? What about all my other 'stuff' which is all up to date (including aperture 3, which I am a great user of.). What should I do? Your advice is eargerly sought. Thanks an aging baby boomer. Question: Q: Disk Repair on a late 2007 Mac Book Pro I just ran a Disk Check on my Mac after the warped batery issue I had two days ago; it tells me to start up the machine from my Mac OS X installation disk and run Disk Utility to repair. If you receive this message from Disk Utility after replugging an external drive that wasn't successfully ejected (or unmounted), it could be that the OS is already busy performing the repair in the background. Your Mac will not be able to mount the disk until after the automatic checks are complete.

Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Apple Footer • This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only.
