Hi pepamom, Thanks for participating on this thread and I will try to assist you. I understand that your emoticons are grayed out when you are trying to insert one. Let's try to isolate if the issue was caused Mail related files that became corrupted. Try fixing it by following these: 1. Press Windows + R, type AppWiz.cpl, click OK. Select Windows Essentials 2012/Windows Live Essentials, click Uninstall/Change -or- Remove. Click Repair all Windows Essentials Programs.

The Mac Quick Emoji Keystroke: Command + Control + Space. Once the Emoji character panel is shown on screen, you can use the arrow keys to navigate around in the Emoji icon set, then hit the Return key to place the selected Emoji character into the document, text box, message, or where ever else you are typing on the Mac. Use emoticons in Communicator for Mac. Emoticons are graphic images that you can use to express emotions in an instant message conversation. You can add emoticons in two ways: Click in the conversation window and choose the emoticon you want. Use a keyboard shortcut.

In case the issues still persists, I would like to ask what is the version of your Mail. To check, press ALT + F in Mail, click About. Regards, Richard. You arer mentioning corrupt files and grey out. It is not a problem with corrupt files. Microsoft only allows the Emoticons they provide on Windows Live Mail. As far as the greyed out insert tab, you can't click on it because it is only directions to insert the Emoticons from the pop up list Microsoft provided. So it is not a repair problem. It is a Microsoft Controlling Software problem.

In other words this is the Microsoft Commandment regarding Windows Live Mail: 'No other Emoticons are allowed except what we provide for the Windows Live Mail program.' The World is Flat and we wont allow any other views! I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit with Program Files (x86) Windows Live Mail '. Record skype video calls.
