Not exactly DJing, but I am having a house party on Friday and want to hook up my computer (which will be playing music through speakers) to my TV with an HDMI cable.
I want to have some music visualization software playing. The software I've tried (iTunes visualization and Winamp visualization) both don't sync well to the BASS in a song. I want the lights to be flashing more to the basses in all the songs throughout the night rather than the higher frequencies.
Which program can I customize to do this? I dj at bars 4 nights a week and play visualizations with custom messages(drink specials, upcoming events,facebook/twitter info, please tip you bartender etc.)and pics on the bars tvs. I use winamp with the milkdrop visualisation and it goes to the bass perfectly. Just make sure you use line in. Select Open Location (Ctrl-L) and type in 'linein://' and hit Open (no quotes). Let me know if you need any help.
Like I said I use this almost everyday. Protip: Use the preset pack for some really incredible and stunning visuals.
Ooh, this is a question I'm fully prepared to answer. It sounds like you would want to use. It's really easy software to get a hang of if you watch a few tutorials. I made a simple audioreactive visual (which I assume is something along the lines of what you'd want) after less than a week of working with Resolume.
It's a free demo, with the only drawback being that it will display a watermark, but otherwise it's around $400. Internet download manager full version for mac. On how to mess around with audioreactivity. You can do things like have video clips zoom in for low-end freqs, distortion for high-end, and strobe-flashes for mids. Check out if you want to check out what others are doing, including some professionals.
I'm not experienced by any means but it seems like is what you're looking for and it's fairly commonly used. The features can seem a little confusing at first, but you can get the basics down and have something to work with in a couple hours. If you're looking to sync, it can listen into your audio output or you can set the tempo for the visualizations.
A downside is that it could get pretty taxing on your CPU depending on your specs and whatnot, and if you go with the free/demo version, it shows a watermark (you can work around this by changing enough parameters to unnoticeably blend the watermark into your visualization). Is also an option if you're looking for an all-in-one solution. Try downloading the free app called. You can see a video demo of it. Although it's intended for projectors, it still works as a visualizer on a TV or screen in a pinch. If you do have a projector somewhere, definitely try to bring it to the party. Once you have the projector, it works best if you have a fog machine.
